Watercolour and Wine

Paint brush in your right hand, wine glass in your left. What could be better? Relax and unwind at this Watercolour and Wine class.

You’ll start with the basics of still life and work your way around different techniques and tools. All while enjoying some great wine and even better company.

About the class.

Guided by professional tutor, Sally Conwell, you will learn about the properties of watercolour paint while developing practical painting skills. Techniques include paint application, brush-work, colour mixing, light and shade, tonal value and design in watercolour painting.

You’ll complete your own watercolour painting and leave with a selection of tools to help you continue painting.

What do I need to do?

1. Book your ticket on Eventbrite. Tickets are $18 per person.

Alcohol is available at this workshop. Tickets available for ages 18+.

2. Go to the MSQ Art Space on Wednesday 17 April.

PRAMS is your chance to connect with other parents in Wentworth Point.

For the first meeting of PRAMS, we’ll be introducing ourselves to you and connecting neighbours in person. You’ll also receive your PRAMS discount card and learn more about Marina Square plus our upcoming activities for families and children. Light refreshments will be provided by Leaf Café.

Learn to Bloom – Floristry Workshop

Let your creative skills bloom during the latest workshop at the MSQ Art Space.

Our next workshop will be Floristry. Embrace your green fingers and make something beautiful.

Floristry covers flower care and handling, floral design, flower arranging, merchandising, display and flower delivery. In this beginners workshop, you will learn the basics of floral design and flower arrangements. You’ll use your natural flair for colour and design to bring life and heavenly scents to your unique version of the bouquet.

During the workshop, you will learn how to make an Easter Basket with local florist, Karen Huang. Karen runs Marina Square’s florist and espresso bar, Rose Espresso Florist.

About the arrangement.
Create an Easter Basket arrangement with Rose Espresso Florist. Let your creative flair blossom. Use colour, scent and structure to create a beautiful bouquet to take home.
No knowledge required, this class is perfect for beginners or flower enthusiasts.

For those who have already attended a flower arranging class, this will be a fresh new perspective on how flowers can be combined and presented.

Equipment, flowers and light refreshments included. This workshop is free of charge.

Meet Your Lord Mayor

Meet the Mayor at Marina Square on Saturday 2 March.

During this session, you can chat with the Mayor about important issues, let him know what’s great about Wentworth Point and what you’d like to see more or less of.

Find the Mayor near the Wentworth Place Entrance close to Miss Specs Appeal. He’ll be at Marina Square from 9:30am – 12:30pm.

February at the MSQ Art Space

The MSQ Art Space is a place for the community to unleash their creativity; you can make use of the art space through workshops, exhibitions and more.

Our exciting program for 2019 kicks-off in February with a photography challenge and Lunar New Year themed workshops for young and old.

Here’s what’s on this month:

Photography Exhibition

From Saturday 2 February, the MSQ Art Space will host an exhibition from acclaimed Wentworth Point local, Henry Zeng. This exhibition will showcase a variety of award-winning images from Wentworth Point and beyond.

Henry is a local award-winning photographer. He’s internationally renowned for his city-scape work and also founded the Australian Digital Photography Association (ADPA).

Please join us on 2 February for the Official Launch of the exhibition.

Exhibition runs every day in the MSQ Art Space until 4 March.

During the run of the exhibition, Henry will host three photo workshops. Dates to be confirmed.

Children’s Art Workshop

In the Year of the Pig, learn how to draw the pudgy pink animals. This after-school workshop introduces children to ink and brush art and will help them design an illustrated card to take home.

Boost your child’s creativity this Lunar New Year with ‘A little bite by Grace’.

About ‘A little bite by Grace’
Grace is a Sydney based Illustrator, Mama and Founder of ‘A little bite by Grace’. She’s best known for her delicate, hand-drawn illustrations.

Grace has worked on everything from tiny portraits to big billboards. She uses her art and her workshops to share the joy of making art.

Adult’s Art Workshop 

Grace will guide you through technique and tools. Plus a few tips and tricks of the trade.

This workshop is the perfect lunch-time opportunity to meet like-minded people, get creative and learn new skills.

This workshop is free, but registration is essential.

Lantern Making

Craft a red lantern to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Make and decorate a simple lantern to decorate your house.

Meet MSQ Art Space

Welcome to your local pop-up art space and place to celebrate the artists that make up the Wentworth Point community.

Walk into MSQ Art Space and you’ll discover a series of beautiful artworks from accomplished local artists Charles Cheng and Henry Zeng. However, that’s not all you’ll uncover. We will be complementing their exhibition with other works by other local Wentworth Point residents.

How will MSQ Art Space work? 

MSQ Art Space has been designed to inspire visitors, showcase local talent and celebrate our collective creativity.  We’ve been taking expressions of interest from local artists who’d like to contribute. Expressions of interest have now closed.
